Hickey (1997) reported that the event was associated with a storm surge in Southend, Essex. High tides were also the cause of flooding along the River Thames (The Times, 1935)

This event is mentioned in a compilation of historical coastal floods in North West Europe developed by Hickey (1997), and is associated with a storm surge in Southend, Essex. Zong and Tooley (2003) also report flooding in Southend and Benfleet during this event, and on the south coast at Cowes, Isle of Wight. There was also flooding along the River Thames due to the high tides, and some non-residential properties in Grays were reportedly flooded (The Times, 1935.
