This event was mentioned in a compilation of historical coastal floods in North West Europe developed by Hickey (1997) and was associated with a storm surge in North Sea and Scotland causing widespread sea flooding. This event was also reported as 1552 but Lamb (1991) stated this event more likely happened in 1553.
