High tide was reported as the source of flooding during this event. In Beauly, ‘the highest tide that has been seen for many a day’ was reported (Hickey, 1997).

Receptor and Consequence
This event was associated with coastal flooding in Inverness and Beauly (Hickey, 1997). Several of the lower parts of the Inverness town were partially flooded for a short time and several houses were also flooded as well as the roadway at Douglas Row became impassable. In Beauly, several places of the bank broke and flooded part of Temigh and Easter Lovat farms. Some of the roads were also impassable.
