This event was associated with coastal flooding in Starcross, Saltash, Topsham, Weymouth and Bournemouth (the latter location is not known to be susceptible to coastal flooding, hence this may have comprised severe overtopping by waves). There was some disruption to coastal traffic, including along the main Weymouth-Bournemouth road which was covered in shingle (The Times, 1957). In Starcross, Devon part of the railway was impacted.
