This event was associated with coastal flooding in Hampshire, with the worst impacts reportedly observed in Cowes, Isle of Wight where a considerable part of the high street was inundated, along with many other local roads (Ruocco et al., 2011). A road in Marchwood, Southampton was described as an ‘inland waterway’.
