Localised flooding was reported in and around Milford-on-Sea and Hayling Island during this event, where some residential properties were inundated to a depth of several inches (Ruocco et al. 2011). In Hayling Island, some local roads were inundated to a depth of up to 2ft. [0.6 m] and several beachside huts were “swept” away. A flood warning prompted the evacuation of 50 hospital patients.
