Storm Event

Massive waves brought flooding just days after a tornado struck the town

Severity ? 2

Source

This event was associated with flooding in Selsey, reportedly two days after having experienced a tornado (Ruocco et al., 2011)

Pathway

Lawrence (2017) reported that there was a minor overtopping of shingle at Medmerry Beach, Selsey.

Receptor and Consequence

Ruocco et al. (2011) reported that some residential properties were inundated to knee depth, with 30 affected in total. The strong wave conditions at Ryde caused concern when the hovercraft was displaced.
