Receptor and Consequence

A highly anticipated windstorm on 27th–28th October that caused almost 87 knots (45 m/s) winds at the Needles, and flooding at the ferry terminal and quay in the Isle of Wight town of Yarmouth (IOWCP, 2013a). There are also pictures showing overtopping at Alum Bay, Gurnard (IOWCP, 2013b). What was extraordinary about this event was that it occurred at neap tide, and was the result of a large storm surge (Wadey et al., 2015) and high frequency sea level oscillations (Ozsoy et al., 2016).
