Receptor and Consequence

This event is associated with flooding in the Solent over a period of 1–2 days (Haigh et al., 2015). 23rd December 1995 was associated with localised flooding in Portsmouth and Wootton Bridge in the Isle of Wight, with some local roads inundated up to a few inches deep (Ruocco et al. 2011). 24th December 1995 was associated with localised flooding in Hythe and Dibden (Southampton Water) (Ruocco et al. 2011).This even also saw exceptionally high tide causing flood water to sweep along quayside at Town Bridge, Weymouth. It was reported from Weymouth that water were from multistore car park to East Street, Commercial Road to Lower Bond Street, up to lower end of Maiden Street (Burrows, 2017).
